The latest trailer for the highly anticipated N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton was released today—and it surely didn't disappoint.

Less than two months after the Red Band trailer hit the web, the most recent clip provides a greater glimpse into the challenges the iconic rap group—which was founded by Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E and popularized the gansta rap genre—faced during their rocky road to stardom.

During the 2 minute and 30 second trailer, there are plenty of run-ins with the police, big moments in the studio—including the origin of the song "Cruisin' Down the Street"—and we even see the backlash the group initially faced due to the explicit nature of their lyrics.

"People are scared of you guys, you have unique voice, the world needs to hear it," Jerry Heller, N.W.A.'s manager and the co-founder of Ruthless Records, tells the iconic rap artists.

Directed by F. Gary Gary, the forthcoming film stars O'Shea Jackson Jr. (Ice Cube's son) as Ice Cube, Marcus Callender as Dre and Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E, and according to Universal Pictures, the movie "tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war."

"Our art is a reflection of our reality," Eazy-E insists in the trailer after the group is criticized for glamorizing "gangs and drugs."

Produced by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, Straight Outta Compton hits theaters Aug.14.

E! and Universal Pictures are part of the NBCUniversal family.
