Another Hollywood mystery?

Andrew Getty, a grandson of oil tycoon and philanthropist J. Paul Getty and one of billionaire Gordon Getty's seven children, was found dead at his home in the Hollywood Hills today. He was 47 and his death is currently being investigated by the LAPD.

While the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division is handling the investigation due to the high-profile status of the deceased, sources confirmed to L.A.'s KNBC.

Sources also told KNBC that an as-yet unidentified woman made the call to report that there was an unresponsive man in the bathroom at what turned out to be Getty's address. It was determined that the body had sustained trauma but no cause was immediately identified, the sources said.

J. Paul was also the great-grandfather of actor Balthazar Getty, making him a cousin-once-removed of Andrew's.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Andrew purchased his home in the hills in 1996. The Times also reports that the deceased had sought a restraining order against a woman two weeks ago, but his lawyer declined to comment further.

Forbes currently has his father, Gordon's, net worth at $2.1 billion. As the sole trustee of his father's fortune, Gordon orchestrated the sale of Getty Oil to Texaco in 1984 for $10.1 billion.

Like the Kennedys, the Getty family has a storied past that at times was truly stranger than fiction.

Another of Andrew's cousins, J. Paul Getty III, was famously kidnapped in 1973 and his family only paid ransom after the kidnappers had cut off a piece of the missing heir's ear and sent it to his mother.
