Julie Andrews and several members of the cast of The Sound of Music had a heartwarming reunion on Thursday at the 2015 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood, where they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1965 musical movie, arguably America's favorite family film.
The 79-year-old actress, who played Maria in what is considered her most famous role, talked to E! News about the movie as well as about Lady Gaga's epic performance of a medley of songs from the film at the 2015 Oscars. She said the reunion brought back fond memories.
"It reminds me that wonderful things have happened throughout my life and this is a bonus because none of us expected it," Andrews said.
She was joined at the reunion by co-star Christopher Plummer, 85. The two could not be more adorable together, getting cozy while posing for pictures and smiling at each other.
He played the strict Captain von Trapp, who hires Maria as the governess of his children.
Three actresses who played von Trapp daughters in The Sound of Music attended the reunion—Heather Menzies, 65 (Louisa), Debbie Turner, 58 (Marta) and Kym Karath, 56 (the youngest, Gretl).
Cast members from the film have reunited before. Andrews told E! News that her co-stars have kept in touch over the years.

Lady Gaga wowed audiences with her Sound of Music medley at the 2015 Oscars. Andrews hugged her on stage and said her performance was "wonderful" and warmed her heart.
"Wasn't she great?" the actress told E! News. "I had no idea she was that wonderful a singer and I was cheering her on from the side of the stage and waiting to come on and the first time I've ever met her was when I walked on the stage."
