Since the very first episode, Grey's Anatomy has been able to bring on the tears in a way that no other show can.

From all the main characters having to suffer personal tragedy after personal tragedy (seriously, how do these people get up out of bed in the mornings?!), to all the one-episode-long story arcs of the hospital patients, Grey's Anatomy knows how to punch you in the emotional gut, tear your heart out and make you go through entire Kleenex boxes in one sitting. And that's why we can't stop watching it!

Although it's a pretty well-known fact that Grey's Anatomy isn't as good as it used to be in its glory days—we're talking all the way back to the earliest seasons, people, aka the days when Burke (Isaiah Washington), George (T. R. Knight) and Izzie (Katherine Heigl) all roamed the halls of the hospital—it still can inspire tears at the drop of a hat now in its 11th season. That's just genius writing at work!

And since the long-running ABC medical turns 10 years old today—the series premiere, "A Hard Day's Night," aired March 27, 2005—we decided to look back on all the times Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Cristina (Sandra Oh) and all their coworkers and patients made us cry, from a single tear running down our cheeks to the full-on ugly cry.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
