As One Direction fans know, March 25 marked the unfortunate day when Zayn Malik announced that he was leaving the group. And though Zayn's announcement that he is leaving the Simon Cowell-fashioned boy band after a mindblowingly successful five-year run may have come as a shock to many, it apparently surprised no one close to the 22-year-old from West Yorkshire.
Malik had said in a statement that he had left 1D because he wants to be a "normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight." He called the remaining band members his "friends for life."
So, the only respectful thing to do now is to respect Zayn's wishes, and attempt to move forward with our lives knowing that One Direction is now a chart-topping band of four.
