This Diet Dr. Pepper commercial might cause you to do a double-take.
At first glance, it's just your normal soda ad that features a few employees in the work break room looking for a sweet pick-me-up, and one special lady's carbonated desire happened to summon Lil' Sweet, who—surprise!—ends up being Justin Guarini!
All of a sudden, a little man slides into the room on his knees, dressed in a red wig and shiny metallic pants and hands her a Diet Dr Pepper. If you take a closer look, take away the garb and eyeliner, you'll realize it's the American Idol alum. Well, that, and it also says his name down on the bottom.
He starts showing off his killer vocals by hitting some ultra-high notes about the sweetness of Diet Dr. Pepper before explaining that he does not work with the employees in that break room (he's self-employeed) and then slides back out on his knees.
Guarini, best known known as the runner-up on American Idol's debut season in 2002 when Kelly Clarkson took the first title, has since been working on independent film projects and hosting shows. He's currently starring in the Broadway musical Paint Your Wagon (and soda commercials).
He also recently made headlines after Clarkson admitted that the two dated during their feature film, From Justin to Kelly. "We didn't date during Idol, which everybody thought we were dating. We did date during...I feel like we weren't dating during the movie. But I feel like maybe we did. We did date a little bit," the pop star explained to Andy Cohen.
"I think any two people who are thrown together that much [would eventually date]. 'Timeless,' you put that song on From Justin to Kelly—you can't fight it!"
Guarini is now a father to two sons, William Neko, 3, and Asher, 2, and a stepdad to Lola with wife Reina Capodici.
