I don't always violate the HOV lane law...but when I do, I get a $124 ticket! We'll give him an A for creativity! ???? pic.twitter.com/hNbQDuBWfc

Cost of misusing the carpool lane: over $100
"15 minutes" of Internet fame: priceless
Washington State Patrol trooper Guy Gill pulled a guy over because he was cruising in the carpool lane as a solo driver. Now we've all heard the urban legends of doctors and med students using cadavers to get carpool lane access, but this story is so much better than that. And it's definitely true!
When Gill approached the car, he realized that the "passenger" was actually a cardboard cutout of actor Jonathan Goldsmith, aka the "Most Interesting Man in the World" from those Dos Equis beer commercials. Stay thirsty, my friends.
When the cop asked him about Mr. Goldsmith riding shotgun, the driver's response was basically perfect:
"He's my best friend."
Aw, those two crazy kids do make a wacky but endearing pair!
Trooper Gill (which sounds like the name of a cop comedy TV show that we would totally watch) snapped a photo of the ridiculous situation and posted it to Twitter with the caption: "I don't always violate the HOV lane law … but when I do, I get a $124 ticket."
Again, we think that's a small price to pay to be seen on the Internet as a damn hero.
