Adam DeVine has about two months to get in shape.
And not just any kind of shape.
The Pitch Perfect star begins shooting Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates opposite hot-bodied Zac Efron in May.
"It shoots in Hawaii, so we both have to have our shirts off," DeVine told me at a SXSW cocktail party for his new horror comedy The Final Girls. "I just got the personal trainer who trained Chris Pratt to go from fat guy to look at him today!"
He was taking advantage of whatever training-free time he had remaining. "I'm eating as many tacos as I can right now because I know my life is about to change," DeVine said. "And then I'm just going to do it. I don't want to do the movie and have people like, 'Oh yeah, that's Zac Efron and the fat guy from Pitch Perfect.' That's not something I want. It's just a total vanity thing."
The two play brothers whose online ad to find dates for a wedding goes viral.
DeVine hilariously shows off his body in The Final Girls thanks in part to his scenes taking place in the '80s. "The clothing that they strapped me in was pretty ill-fitting," he said, laughing. "You just see my medium-size bulge just popping out all over the place and my medium-size fat bulge just oozing over my pants. I look like a human muffin."
The Final Girls tells the story of a young woman (Taissa Farmiga) who finds herself and some friends transported into an '80s horror movie that starred her late mother (Malin Akerman). Devine plays, in perfect parody, the requisite hottie summer camp counselor.
Co-stars include Nina Dobrev, American Horror Story's Taissa Farmiga and The Hunger Games actor Alexander Ludwig.
