It's one step closer to being over for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton

The former high-school sweethearts were granted a divorce on March 17, E! News confirms, the news coming less than six months after the actress first filed, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakdown of their marriage. The exes will be officially divorced on April 14.

The 39-year-old beauty and the 38-year-old "Blurred Lines" singer initially separated back in February 2014 after nearly nine years of marriage before Patton filed for divorce eight months later. The two are also parents to 4-year-old son, Julian, whom they share custody of.

"We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the pair said in a joint statement upon announcing their separation.

Most recently, Patton, who shied away from the spotlight following the high-profile split, appeared on Good Morning America, where she opened up about her life post-breakup.

"I'm doing really well," the brunette stunner told Robin Roberts with a smile. "I mean, the honest truth is it has been challenging, but it's been a year of growth, lots of healing, learning about all new things, but I've come out of it stronger."

"My son's happy," the actress continued. "And I'm very—you know, I feel like everything happens for a reason. And then you have to move on and grow from there."

Following their split, Thicke dedicated his most recent album, Paula, to the actress and embarked upon an apology tour in an attempt to win her back.

"When you lose the love of your life, you don't have much to hide anymore," he said back in July while promoting the latest record (the album flopped).

Meanwhile, the verdict in Thicke and Pharrell Williams' "Blurred Lines" trial was revealed last week, with a Los Angeles jury ruling that the singers' hit song did infringe on Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" and "Sexy Ways" by Funkadelic

The jury awarded Gaye's children $4 million in damages, plus profits that Thicke and Williams made from the song, for a grand total of $7.4 million.

Thicke and Patton, who met when they were barely 14, wed on June 11, 2005. Their son was born April 6, 2010.

Wishing both parties all the best.
