It feels like it was just yesterday that Andrew Garfield was slinging his first webs in The Amazing Spider-Man.

But as we now know, the Spidey franchise is going to be rebooted again. Sony has made no announcements about who will play Peter Parker and his superhero alter ego.

Sally Field played Peter's Aunt May in the two Garfield flicks. Calling Garfield "just perfect," the acting icon told me at the South by Southwest premiere of her indie drama Hello, My Name Is Doris, that he is the "most perfect fellow to work with, so I will miss him, but I'll find him."

The movies also co-starred Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Denis Leary as her police captain dad and Martin Sheen as Peter's Uncle Ben.

"It was fun," Field said. "It was fun because it was just a great group."

Sony Pictures Entertainment will release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017. The movie will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, who stepped down as head of SPE after The Interview hacking scandal. Pascal launched the franchise in 1999, with Toby Maguire playing the titular role.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment are also discussing ways to integrate the Marvel characters into future Spider-Man films.

The new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel movie.
