A.D. The Bible Continues is prepared to take you back in time with its "gritty" and "authentic" look. The event series from executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey picks up where the smash History Channel miniseries left off after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In the NBC series, Juan Pablo di Pace is the latest in a line of hot Jesus Christs.

In the exclusive video below, di Pace, Adam Levy and Richard Coyle take viewers inside the world of A.D. The Bible Continues with a tour of the awe-inspiring set in Ouarzazate, Morocco. The temple set took 500 Moroccans 12 weeks to build it.

"Here for A.D. they really wanted to capture the sense of the grandeur and the beauty and to inspire awe and respect," Coyle says in the video above. "It was quite thrilling to film in this environment."

The impressive set has authentic touches of details, including a ceiling built to dimensions that would've been found in ancient Jerusalem. "It is actually quite stunning every day," Levy says. "What a place to work!"

Emmett J. Scanlan, Babou Alieu Ceesay and Chipo Chung also star in the miniseries.

A.D. The Bible Continues premieres Sunday, April 5, at 9 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
