Spotted: Chuck Bass making a comeback.
Rejoice, Gossip Girl fans: Ed Westwick is returning to TV!
E! News has confirmed that the former Upper East Sider has landed one of the lead roles in the buzzy ABC pilot L.A. Crime, which follows two detectives as they track Kent and Betty, a Bonnie & Clyde-like serial-killing team on the Sunset Strip in the '80s. Playing the Clyde-esque Kent? Yep, Westwick. Looks like he isn't done playing the bad boy just yet.
Even better? The Bonnie to his Clyde will be played by Parenthood star Erika Christensen. We now live in a world where Chuck Bass and Julia Braverman-Graham are chillin' like villains and we love it.
Had our (pretty damn fun) table read for LA Crime, which may change titles," Christensen tweeted on Wednesday, adding the teasing hashtag #gossip. Sadly, she did not sign it "XOXO."
Playing the two detectives in the potential true crime procedural are Gabriel Luna and Adam Rothenberg, with American Horror Story's Taissa Farmiga, Darrell Brit-Gibson and Karolina Wydra also set to star in the project written by Steven Baigelman.
Westwick isn't the first Gossip Girl star to land a major pilot this season for ABC: Chace Crawford, the artist formerly known as Nate Archibald, landed a leading role in ABC's Boom. The drama series will follow the biggest oil discovery in American history, which triggers an economic shift in North Dakota not seen since the 1849 California Gold Rush. Crawford will play Billy, a "hustler" of a man who experiences hardships when he tries to move to North Dakota with his wife to reap the benefits.
