Batter up...Will Ferrell is back in the game! Will Rojo Johnson make a comeback?

The funnyman will once again put on a baseball uniform and take to the field...or rather, fields, for a pretty epic challenge. On Thursday, Ferrell is set to play not one but all nine field positions in several MLB Spring Training Cactus League games in Arizona, according to USA Today, which added that he will travel from ballpark to ballpark via helicopter. (For non-baseball fans, that would be: pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, left fielder, center fielder, right fielder and shortstop.)

The actor will take part in five ball games and footage will be filmed for a new special produced by comedy website Funny Or Die, in partnership with Major League Baseball, that will air HBO later this year and raise awareness for a great cause.

"Dedicating the special to the fight against cancer, Ferrell is also honoring the historic feat of Bert Campaneris five decades ago by playing every position on the field, and maybe some off the field, for ten different teams in the same day," Funny or Die said in a statement for E! News.

"We hope to always be in the Will Ferrell business," Michael Lombardo, President of HBO Programming, was quoted as saying. "This latest collaboration is one of those things only Will could pull off. I can't wait to see him take the field."

Here are the five MLB Cactus League Spring Training games Ferrell will play in on Thursday (all times ET):

1. Seattle Mariners - Oakland Athletics, 3:05 p.m., HoHoKam Stadium, Mesa, AZ (originally scheduled later)

2. Chicago Cubs - Los Angeles Angels, 4:10 p.m., Tempe Diablo Stadium, Tempe, AZ

3. Cincinnati Reds - Arizona Diamondbacks, 5:10 p.m. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Scottsdale, AZ (originally scheduled earlier)

4. San Francisco Giants - Chicago White Sox, 7:05 p.m., Camelback Ranch, Phoenix, AZ (originally scheduled earlier)

5. Los Angeles Dodgers - San Diego Padres, 9:15 p.m., Peoria Stadium, Peoria, AZ (originally scheduled earlier)

The event also comes two weeks before the March 27 release of his newest comedy film, Get Hard.

Ferrell, known for his zany publicity stunts, has played in a professional baseball games before. In 2010, two months before the release of his comedy The Other Guys, the actor portrayed minor league pitcher Billy Ray "Rojo" Johnson in a game between his Round Rock Express and the Nashville Sound in Texas. He lasted one pitch before he was thrown out. He also sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch.

He threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Chicago Cubs game against the Miami Marlins in 2012. He and Zach Galifianakis, who were promoting The Campaign, had Chicago deep dish pizza delivered to the mound and munched on the giant slices happily with several players. Galifianakis was also seen handing out $20 bills to fans.

He also threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Boston Red Sox vs. Royals game in 2006, just before the release of his film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, and at a 2004 game between the Cubs and the Angels, weeks before the release of what would become one of his most popular films, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
