Susan Sarandon and Jonathan Bricklin, who were recently the subject of split rumors after five years of dating, are allowing viewers to see inside their relationship in Morgan Spurlock's new AOL series, Connected.

The show, which begins streaming March 31, follows six New York couples as they navigate through the trials and tribulations of their relationships with hand-held cameras over the course of six months. No camera crews were involved in the project.

From the start, however, viewers will see that Bricklin faced insecurities in his relationship with Sarandon, who is more than 30 years older than he.

"I've always felt embarrassed for you that you're dating me," Bricklin tells the A-list actress in the clip. "You should be dating someone fabulous."

To which she replies, "I am."

The voice over is juxtaposed with images of the couple during happier times, and even shows them getting cozy in an infinity pool overlooking a gorgeous sunset while snapping a selfie. But as with the other couples on the show, everything isn't always sunsets in paradise. A source told E! News that the Thelma and Louise actress' relationshop woes will be featured in its entirety on the series.

"The split was recent…At first, Susan was onboard with the show. For the last five years, the relationship has been mostly about her. He was given the opportunity to do Connected and really wanted it. He needed something that was going to be about him. She agreed," the source said.

But then a statement released by Bricklin and obtained by E! News clarified that the show wasn't to blame for their relationship's demise.

"Susan and I have a lot of respect and great admiration for each other. It's impossible to concisely characterize our relationship, other than to say that it continues to evolve in new and unexpected ways."

It continued, "She supported my decision to be a part of AOL's Connected, and making this series about my life has brought up real and somewhat unexplored issues, but it didn't break us up."

Connected will focus on 12 people as they struggle accomplish their goals, which range from getting pregnant to becoming a successful stand-up comedian. One woman even grapples to come to terms with a cancer diagnosis.
