After a whirlwind season, Chris Soules finally got down on one knee and proposed on The Bachelor last night. And alas, it was Whitney Bischoff who went home with the hunky farmer… and a massive sparkler on her left hand. But you can't expect the Bachelor to settle on just any old ring, and with a little help from iconic jeweler Neil Lane, the 33-year-old selected an enviable 4-carat diamond number worthy of his stunning ladylove.
"This particular ring has the strength of the emerald-cut diamond, which is a very sophisticated, beautiful stone, but then we have a sweetness with the little flourish of diamonds around the central diamond, which makes it feminine," Lane dished to People about the handcrafted design.
Now let's talk numbers: The 4-carat, emerald-cut diamond is set in a platinum band surrounded by 20 smaller brilliant-cut rocks. Two tapered baguettes adorned with 92 round diamonds offset the central rock, making for one blinding piece of finger candy.
"This ring really fits her," Lane added of the ring complimenting the future Mrs. Soules. "She has a strong personality, but there's a huge feminine part to her, and there's a sophistication to her too. She likes detail– you can see it in her dress and you can see it in her style."
And while the engagement sparkler was an obvious choice for Soules considering its exquisite design and quality, Lane offered up another theory as to why the Iowa-native might be drawn to the design.
"He knew that this ring took a lot of thought, and he liked that. He loved the rectangular cut of the diamond. Maybe it reminded him of the field!" Lane joked.
All kidding aside, the ring selection paled in comparison to Soules' excitement about getting down on one knee for 29-year-old Bischoff.
"He was super excited," Lane said. "He talked about her in such a glowing way. He just could see being with her. The guy was totally in love. He was effervescent about it."
