Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...especially when it comes to celebrity makeup artists.
For our Makeup and Match series, we asked E! Style Collective's beauty pros to create the best makeup looks for specific red carpet-worthy dresses. Why? Because the way you pair makeup with an outfit can oftentimes mean the difference between a pretty look and winning a Best Dressed championship. Everything from the color and silhouette to neckline and fabrics come into play.

Why: At first, this dress may seem conservative and demure, but the lace and peekaboo effect, as worn this awards season by the likes of Giuliana Rancic and Emmy Rossum, is feminine and subtly sexy. The high neckline and muted color of this Valentino stunner also comes into play.
How: "With this dress I wanted to give the eyes and lips depth and focus keeping it romantic with a slight edge," said Tina. "The dress is very neutral and has a monochromatic effect against the skin. So the face needs some color and a touch of drama.
"I chose taupes and metallic khaki-green hues to enhance the color of the dress. I blended the creamy metallic color across the lid and lower lashline. I brushed the taupe shadow into the crease and diffused up and out toward the temple. Add just a touch of mascara, because I think the eye should have a lightness, so no black.
"Then a light romantic flush of a rosy blush high on the apple of the cheek. The skin should be as clean as possible, a tinted moisturizer then spot conceal in the areas that need extra coverage. For the lips I went with a matte deep-plum to to add richness and depth to the face with the muted palette of the dress."

Why: Whether it's the big day or just a big day, this delicate, strapless gown is almost like a blank canvas for your beauty game. Not to mention, the pleated silhouette is very flattering for any size waistline.
How: "The gown is so whimsical and has a simple flow that I wanted to create a glowy feel that emphasizes the skin on both face and body," said Catalina. "Rim the eyes in chestnut brown to create a focal point.
"When creating a glowy look, use a sheer foundation. I love Gucci Lustrous Glow Foundation, Broad Spectrum SPF lightly applied with a beautyblender. Make sure your beautyblender is wet—I always use MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Finishing Mist. Over any lighter shade of lipstick, I love to add Tom Ford Lip Lacquer; it is a lustrous clear gloss that brings any lip color to life!"
