Can you imagine what Titanic would be like without Leonardo DiCaprio?!

During a visit to HuffPost Live this week, Jeremy Sisto relived his audition and screen test for the lead role in the hit 1997 flick opposite Kate Winslet.

"That was one of the many, many jobs I didn't get," the 40-year-old said. "It's always fun to see a movie that you know really well and love with this alternate universe person in there. So while I was a little embarrassed to like reveal one of my many failures in life, at the same time I couldn't deprive Titanic lovers of seeing that alternate universe."

Sisto says he "read with Kate as well as three other actresses. It was fun."

"James Cameron had this script that was written, but it wasn't like a normal script. Some of it was kind of written in prose," he recalled. "It was the first time that I had read a script that was written like somebody was going to actually make the movie, not like they were trying to appease agents or anything. It was exciting just to be a part of the process at all."

Even though he didn't end up landing the role of Jack, Sisto called the whole thing a "pretty great experience." "To be involved in something that had that kind of scope—anything James Cameron does has this huge scope to it," he said. "He's trying to push the limits on things. So I was just insanely inspired by it and a little heartbroken when the role didn't come my way."

As for what Sisto thought of the movie with DiCaprio in the lead role? "I love it," he smiled. "It was great."
