Watch: Why "Dig" Can't Be Compared to "Homeland"

Strap in for the thrill ride that is USA Network's new action/mystery drama Dig!

The new series from the creators of Homeland and Heroes is a complex story layered with three different, major plots: a murder mystery in Jerusalem, a unsettling cult and a 2,000-year-old prophecy that is about to bring the end of days. While each storyline may seem separate at first, they will ultimately weave together to create one fascinating and exciting story.

When E! News caught up with Dig star Jason Isaacs, he told us that while the series is totally new, it does have elements from other, well-known shows and movies.

"Hopefully people will compare their shows to Dig in the future," Isaacs says. "But there's no question that it's got a little bit of The Da Vinci Code and a little bit of Indiana Jones in it. But also, you recognize that it comes from the person who created Homeland as well because there are very intricate characters."

He continues, "I could list about a half a dozen other things. It's Dig, and it's got everything in it!"

Plus, Isaacs also revealed the main reason why he joined Dig in the first place, what viewers can expect from the first season, and so much more. Press play on the video above now to watch our full interview with Isaacs!

Dig premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on USA Network.

(E! and USA Network are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
