Susan Sarandon, 68, and Jonathan Bricklin, 37, Split After 5 Years Together

Actress was previously with Tim Robbins for several decades

UPDATE: Jonathan Bricklin said in a statement obtained by E! News:

"Susan and I have a lot of respect and great admiration for each other. It's impossible to concisely characterize our relationship, other than to say that it continues to evolve in new and unexpected ways."

It continued, "She supported my decision to be a part of AOL's Connected, and making this series about my life has brought up real and somewhat unexplored issues, but it didn't break us up."

Susan Sarandon and her boyfriend of five years are calling it quits.

The two, who have a more than 30-year age difference, are said to have split over disagreements with a new reality show they're both featured on.

The two currently star on Morgan Spurlock's new AOL series, Connected, which focuses on six New York couples.

The show, which is centered on 12 individuals documenting their lives with handheld cameras over the course of six months, has caused a rift between Sarandon and Bricklin.

"The whole [split] was documented on the show," a source told E! News. "The split was recent…At first, Susan was onboard with the show. For the last five years, the relationship has been mostly about her. He was given the opportunity to do Connected and really wanted it. He needed something that was going to be about him. She agreed."

Our insider added that the 68-year-old actress primarily joined the show "to support him."

"But as filming went on, she started to get uncomfortable. Even though the filming was supposed to focus on him, producers kept making it about her. They wanted the movie star. They put pressure on him to deliver more with her and she finally put her foot down."

So is there a chance of reconciliation for the duo? "Right now they're together. But they both still want to be. The issue is the show: she wants him to walk away and he doesn't want to. So we'll see."

Sarandon first began dating Bricklin in late 2010, roughly one year after splitting from her longtime partner Tim Robbins.

Sarandon and Robbins have two sons together, Jack and Miles. Sarandon has a daughter, actress Eva Amurri, from another relationship.
