Executive producer Pete Nowalk, we bow down to you. Last night's killer twist on How To Get Away With Murder completely shocked us to our core.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

In the finale five minutes of HTGAWM's tense finale, we finally learned who killed Lila Stangard (Megan West)...and while Sam (Tom Verica) didn't strangle the pregnant sorority girl himself, it turns out he is responsible for the murder, since he ordered Frank (Charlie Weber) to carry out the hit for him!

That's right, Annalise's (Viola Davis) own henchman has been lying to her the whole time. And Weber was just as shocked as the fans are when he found out he was the killer!

Immediately after watching the roller coaster of a finale, E! News got Weber on the line to chat about that twist ending, the official season two renewal and what's coming next on the hit ABC show. Check out our full Q&A below!

ABC

E! News: So last night was a pretty big episode for you, huh?
Charlie Weber: Yeah, it was kind of crazy! Lots of twists and turns.

I was watching with a whole group of E! News writers playing our HTGAWM drinking game, and for the last five or so minutes we were all going crazy and yelling at the TV!
[Laughs] It was crazy.

When did you first find out that you were Lila's killer?
Pete [Nowalk] called me when I was on my way to set for the table read of the finale that we were about to start shooting.

Oh wow! That late?
Yeah. It was pretty close to when we shot it. It took all season for them to really work out a lot of the details. I was really thrilled. It really wasn't out of left field to me other than how I was in a position to do that. What's curious to me now is what is it that I owed Sam for to carry this out for him.

ABC

Did you ever suspect that Frank was the killer? We really don't know that much about him.
Exactly! It wasn't surprising to me that they had him kill someone. I always thought that was something he would do for Annalise. In fact, if you were reading in between the lines of the scene from a few episodes ago, I officially offered to kill Hannah [Marcia Gay Harden], Sam's sister, because she was snooping around. I said, "Let me know if you want me to handle it." That was officially Frank offering to kill her. So I always knew he had that inside of him. With the way he killed Lila, it makes you think perhaps this wasn't his first time.

So that didn't change how you played him in the finale after you learned Frank was the killer?
No, this was always something lurking inside of him, so I was just able to use that and go forward into the finale when he killed Lila.

ABC

What were your first thoughts when you found out that it was Frank the whole time?
It was excitement, not just for me, but also for the show. It opens up so many doors for storylines for season two and it just makes everything even messier than it already is. There are huge implications because now we know that Rebecca [Katie Findlay] actually tried to save Lila when she saw her in the water tank, so now her death is ultimately...someone has now killed an innocent person. We have another innocent girl's dead body on our hands.

Speaking of season two, congrats on the official season two renewal! Have you heard about any plans for the new season yet?
It's very exciting. We found out last night after the finale, but I think the writing was on the wall even though there wasn't anything official. Our jaws would have been on the floor if we weren't back for season two. But no, I know nothing about where we're going to go. That's the beauty of it. It is wide open. There are so many places we could go.

ABC

There are so many open ended questions for season two: what Frank owes Sam for, who killed Rebecca, who Eggs 911 is, etc. Which question are you most excited to see answered?
For me personally, it's what Frank owed Sam. I'm so curious and I really hope we dive deep into that. Just as an actor, I love Tom Verica. I think he's so talented and great, and it'd be really fun to go deep with him. I'm looking forward to that. And it's absolutely brilliant, because something that Pete and I were talking about was that—with the exception of a brief moment in the pilot, and even in that we don't speak—we're never in the same place at the same time. Sam and Frank were never together. It's fascinating to know there's a complete story behind that. Pete's just a genius.

ABC

Who do you think killed Rebecca? Do you think it was Frank again, to cover his own tracks?
It's entirely possible that either one of us, Frank or Annalise, killed her. We're so used to lying to each other and ourselves what it is we've done or are capable of. It's completely possible that Frank did it. But if you watch that last hour again, absolutely everyone had an opportunity to do it. So it's completely up in the air. It really could have been any of us. This was about self-preservation: she had dirt on every one of us.

What was it like finally getting to film that final flashback scene where Frank killed Lila?
I played it very cold and calculated. It was just a task that Frank needed to carry out, and he's able to compartmentalize all of that. And it was very dark and terrifying to be in the place I had to be in order to play that.

HTGAWM returns for season two in the fall on ABC.
