You can't put a price on good hair...can you?

Well, if you ask Julianna Margulies, it's about $10,000—per season! The star of The Good Wife (now in its sixth season) has spoken before about the wigs she wears while playing Alicia Florrick, but on Wednesday's Late Show With David Letterman, the 48-year-old actress revealed why the pricey props are actually a good investment for the CBS show!

"What's great about it [the wig] is you always look the same. And then, because we do a lot of flashbacks, now I have all the wigs—we get a new wig every season, because they need to be changed or whatever," she said. "You have to freshen it up, and she [Julianna's Good Wife character] has different haircuts sometimes, too. So, they'll keep the old wigs so we can do flashbacks, and it has saved them more money [not having to restyle her hair] that it [cost] to make the wigs!"

Julianna is a fan of the expensive wigs on a personal level, too. "Here's this thing. My own hair is more curly, and they wanted her [Julianna's character] to look very coiffed and have straight hair. I thought, 'Oh my, God! Twenty-two episodes a year, 14 episodes a day'—and if the weather changes my hair starts growing like a chia pet, depending on the humidity."

Plus, when the show premiered in 2009, Julianna "just had my baby," she said (her son Kieran is now 7), "and I wanted that extra hour it would take to blow-dry my hair straight to have with my child."

Understandable! The former ER star got quite a laugh, too, when Dave pointed to his head and said, "This is a wig right here!" Watch for yourself in the CBS Late Show clips above.
