Trai Byers learned a whole lot in college when he studied drama with Lupita Nyong'o at Yale University.

But it was a special moment with Oprah Winfrey that resulted in a lesson he will cherish for many years to come.

While sitting down with E! News this week to promote his hit series Empire, Trai retold the meeting he had with Winfrey. As he tried to take a picture of the talk-show host with his sister, a teachable moment was presented to him.

"I take the picture and she walks off, grabs my hand and says, ‘Stay in the light young man, stay in the light,' Trai shared with Alicia Quarles. Yah, we wouldn't forget that either.

Another valuable tidbit Trai learned is that being a star shouldn't take away from the art you are creating on the big and small screen.

It also shouldn't prevent you from remaining close to your family members. During his interview at the NBC Experience Store in New York City, sister Brandy was watching from behind the cameras.

But halfway through the shoot, the proud sibling couldn't help but join the conversation.

"My brother does everything for me," she shared with E! News. "I'm trying to get a new car. Okay I just got one and he helped me out with the deposit on that. He's the bomb."

She continued. "He takes me out to eat all the time." Oh, now we're getting real serious here.

"Someone's going to be able to take good care of my sister," Trai explained in reference to any boyfriends that could come Brandy's way. "She knows how to be taken care of."
