Calista Flockhart Is Returning to TV in a Super New Role

CBS' Supergirl was the lucky show to snag the Ally McBeal and Brothers & Sisters alum

Calista Flockhart is making her grand return to TV, people! And of course, it's in one of the most highly anticipated projects of the season: Supergirl!

Yes, E! Online has confirmed that the Ally McBeal and Brothers & Sisters' alum has joined the cast of CBS' drama pilot, which stars Glee's Melissa Benoist in the lead role of Superman's cousin, Kara.

Flockart is set to take on the series regular role of Cat Grant, a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo. After starting off her career as a reporter, Cat has built her company into a global powerhouse. Her connection to Supergirl? Kara works at CatCo as her assistant.

Since wrapping Brothers & Sisters in 2011, the Golden Globe winner has made several guest appearances on Lisa Kudrow's Web Therapy, and voiced characters on Robot Chicken and The Penguins of Madagascar. She's also married to Han Freakin' Solo... or, you know, Harrison Ford.

Flockhart is just the latest star to join Supergirl, which comes from Arrow and The Flash mastermind Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler. True Blood alum Mehcad Brooks is set to play James "Jimmy" Olsen, a photographer at CatCo, while Tony Award winner Laura Benanti, she of Nashville, Go On and The Good Wife fame, is taking on the recurring role of Kara's birth mother, Alura Zor-El.
