Lady Gaga stole the show. Neil Patrick Harris auditioned for a Calvin Klein underwear campaign. And Idina Menzel had her revenge some fun with John Travolta.

But what happened behind the scenes at this year's Oscars?

Here, I give you five things you didn't see on TV…

1. Water World: We all know it rained during arrivals, but things really took a turn for the worse when the tent started to leak. At one point, Oscar staffers even resorted to holding up a tarp to protect some television equipment. They also passed out flourescent pink towels for wet members of the media. "It feels like home," Brit actor David Oyelowo said.

Fellow Brit Felicity Jones agreed. "It feels very familiar," she told me. "It's lovely. It makes us all feel really comfortable. It's raining. It's perfect. We could deal with rain."

Kerry Washington welcomed the much-needed water. "Suck it up, people," the Scandal star said.

2. Grounded: Menzel almost didn't make to the Oscars in time. Her early morning flight from New York was cancelled! Fortunately, she was able to jump on another flight and make to L.A. a couple of hours before show time.

3. Picture Perfect: Keira Knightly and her hubby James Righton snuck some photos together as she munched on snacks while waiting to go back into the show after a commercial break. Speaking of photos, Reese Witherspoon took an epic selfie with fans on the red carpet.

4. Slumber Party: Eddie Redmayne woke up at about 8 a.m. "I had breakfast with my friend Tom Sturridge, who was staying at the same hotel as me, and Emma Stone was staying across the way," the Theory of Everything star and Best Actor winner told me.

5. Full Exposure: Oprah Winfrey declined to comment on seeing NPH in his tighty whities when I asked her about his skintastic Birdman gag at the Wolfgang Puck-catered Governors Ball. The media mogul says she didn't see it. "I was backstage," she said. "I was backstage."
