Paris Hilton's weekend rendezvous with a so-called mystic man had everyone suspicious, including us.
Especially when Shaggy McGuru, aka Maxie Santillan, happened to have a page full of IMDb screen credits.
Turns out the joke is on all of us: Paris was just the first of 20 or so famous faces turning the tables on the paparazzi for Pop Fiction, a new E! show from Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg premiering this Sunday night.
Goldberg tells USA Today it wasn't hard to find eager participants: "We live in a culture that's driven by media and obsessed with celebrity, to the point where they don't have private lives anymore. Two people going out to eat turns into 'They're engaged.' It's a feeding frenzy."
"We're having fun, but we want to say to people, Can you really believe everything you read and see?"
Note to the programming department: Fine, we fell for it. But watch your backs. We'll be lurking in the hallways and using the bathroom on your floor from now on. Better lock your offices...
