J.K. Simmons Wins Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars, Reminds Us to Call Our Mom and Dad!

It's official!

J.K. Simmons just earned the evening's first Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Whiplash.

The beloved star has swept awards season after he earned the Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild award and now, the Academy Award.

Most of the crowd rose to their feet after Simmons took to the stage to accept the high honor.

"Thank you to everyone involved in the making of Whiplash and I am grateful every day for the most remarkable person I know my wife the wonderful Michelle Schumaker," he told the crowd.

"I'm grateful for your love your kindness your wisdom."

He also profusely thanked his children, Joe and Olivia, and told everyone to "call your mom, everybody…call your dad," before adding, "If you're lucky to have a parent or two alive on this planet, call them. Don't text. Don't email. Call them on the phone, tell them you love them and thank them and listen to them for as long as they want to talk to you. Thank you, thank you mom and dad!"
