Watch: Patricia Arquette Interviewed By Her Brother David

David Arquette got emotional as he interviewed his sister and 2015 Oscar nominee Patricia Arquette for E! News, remembering their late parents and recalling fond childhood memories during their heartwarming chat.

The 46-year-old actress, one of five siblings, is the first person in their family to be nominated for an Academy Award. She received a nod for her supporting role as a struggling mother of two in Richard Linklater's Boyhood, a unique family drama.

Patricia appeared surprised and delighted when she discovered that the E! News interview, which was taped before Sunday's 2015 Oscars, would be conducted by her brother. She and the 43-year-old Scream actor greeted each other with a warm embrace.

"I hope you know how proud I am of you and how proud our parents must be of you," he told her in the interview.

The pair's other siblings, sisters Rosanna Arquette, 55, and Alexis Arquette, 45 and brother Richmond Arquette, 51, are also actors. Their father, Lewis Arquette, also worked as one and appeared on shows such as The Waltons and with David in Scream 2. He died in 2001 at age 65 of congestive heart failure. Their mother, Brenda "Mardi" Arquette, also acted and also worked as an acting teacher and therapist. She passed away in 1997 at age 57 after battling breast cancer.

"I'm so proud of you because you're one of the realest people in the world and that makes you one of the realest actresses in the world," David told her. "And just everything you do is an inspiration to me, our family and we couldn't be prouder."

Boyhood was filmed over the course of 12 years with the same actors. Patricia plays a mother who goes back to college to create a better life for her two children as she deals with financial and personal struggles, including her love life. Ethan Hawke plays their dad and her ex.

"How do you think Mom shaped your character?" David asked Patricia.

"Our mom went back to school," she said. "Our mom also taught. Mom really did everything for us."

Both Patricia and David are also parents and have two children each.

During the interview, the actress said Hawke's Boyhood character reminded them of their dad.

"He was funny; he loved his kids," the actress said. "He loved being a dad, and he wanted us to figure out who we were as individuals."

During the interview, the two recalled fond memories of squabbling as kids.

"As your brother, I know how big your heart is," David told Patricia. "I also know how steadfast you are. You were one who was most likely to give me the handball punch as a child."

"I have a lethal handball punch," she replied.
