Jason Momoa is the perfect person to play Aquaman, as Zack Snyder proved Thursday.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director shared the first picture of the actor in costume via Twitter. It was the first time anyone aside from the cast and crew had seen what Momoa looks like as the DC Comics superhero. "There is only one true King. #unitetheseven," Snyder wrote in the caption. Unlike the illustrated version of the character, Momoa is neither blond nor wearing tights. Snyder was inspired by his own Man of Steel aesthetic, and his tattooed, muscled hero looks far more intimidating.

Per usual, Snyder was a bit cryptic. "Unite the Seven" could refer to the Seven Seas, as Aquaman is their king, or members of the Justice League: Aquaman (Momoa), Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Green Lantern (TBD) and The Flash (Ezra Miller).

Momoa's character will likely first appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016. He will reprise the role in Justice League Part One on Nov. 17, 2017, and will then star in a standalone film, schedule for release on July 27, 2018. Momoa will return for Justice League Part Two on June 14, 2019.

The actor has never officially been listed as a cast member in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but industry insiders seem certain Momoa will at least have a cameo role in the movie. In August 2014, Snyder called into Detroit radio station 97.1 The Ticket's Stoney and Bill Show to defend the superhero's abilities. Aquaman can "cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact...He's super strong," he said. "It's not to say that he's in the movie or anything like that but…he has the potential to be badass."

Needless to say, the reactions to Snyder's sneak peek were overwhelming positive:
