Kathy Griffin has been trying to become besties with Gwyneth Paltrow for years, and only recently has the Goop goddess taken a liking to the Fashion Police co-host.

During a guest appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the E! star admitted that it wasn't until just a few short months ago that she finally had a conversation with the Oscar winner.

"For the first time, in December, she said hi to me after years of me going up to [her]," Griffin shared on the nightly talk show.

She added that she used to approach her whenever she got the chance, including recently when they both appeared on an episode of Glee at the same time, and revealed, "I've tried many times over the years."

"One time, I left her what I thought was a very funny note. I left her an autographed picture of myself, which is such a treat for people," Griffin joked.

"And I said, 'From your idol, Kathy Griffin.' And then finally in December, like out of the blue, she's like, 'Hi! You're going to be on Fashion Police? That's great! Just let it rip!'"

Griffin also told Seth Meyers that she thinks the stars who don't take themselves too seriously are the ones who end up on top during even the most critical of Fashion Police slams.

"It's the celebrities that play along that come out looking like a winner…I think it's a generational thing."
