The Academy Awards are this Sunday, which means you'll be parked on our couch with E! Online open on your laptop, phone and tablet, right? We're pretty much the place to be during award season. But anyway...

In order to judge how awesome or terrible this year's Oscars will be, we have to talk about last year's show. That was almost 12 months ago, and let's face it, television has destroyed all our brains. We now have the memory of a gold fish.

So as a refresh and/or recap, here are the 21 things you probably forgot happened at the 2014 Academy Awards:

1. Benedict Cumberbatch photobombed U2.

2. And then everyone else photobombed everyone else.

3. Jennifer Lawrence tripped and fell. Again.

4. And then host Ellen DeGeneres made sure everyone in the theater knew that she tripped and fell before the show.

5. The selfie to end all selfies was taken.

6. And then Amy Poehler and her crew took an even better photo.

7. Lupita Nyong'o danced.

8. Amy Adams danced.

9. But most importantly, Meryl Streep danced!

10. Adele Dazeem became an instant phenomenon.

11. The Internet shipped Emma Watson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and shipped them hard.

12. Ellen ordered pizza for everyone, and pregnant Kerry Washington definitely wanted in on it.

13. So we got to see the likes of Brad Pitt chow down on a slice of 'za (as Ben Wyatt would call it)

14. Steve McQueen had the best faux-clap in history for John Ridley after he won Best Adapted Screenplay for 12 Years a Slave.

15. Jennifer Lawrence jiggled her extra arm skin for all to see, once again proving that JLaw is all of us.

16. Leonardo DiCaprio did not win an Oscar and his fans mourned.

17. But Matthew McConaughey did win, and he made everyone's wish come true when he said "alright, alright, alright" in his acceptance speech.

18. Idina Menzel sang that one song from that one movie. You've probably only heard it once or twice.

19. Pharrell Williams wore tuxedo shorts, or torts, if you will.

20. American Hustle went 0 for 10.

21. Finally, Emma Thompson wasn't there and that made us very sad.

You've got a tough act to follow, Neil Patrick Harris. Good luck, sir!
