Sure, Julianne Moore is the queen of everything now, but did you know there was once a time she was dramatically slapping Madonna across the face?

We're talking of course about her early role in the 1993 erotic thriller Body of Evidence, where she acted opposite William Dafoe and had fantastically feathered hair. But wait, there's more! Flavorwire has put together a clip show of all the best performances from this year's Oscar nominees. And by "best," we mean "early" and "usually a horror movie" and also "often campy and embarrassing."

Turns out, most of these A-list celebs got their start in horror movies with titles like Mirror, Mirror 2: Raven Dance (Mark Ruffalo) and Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (Moore again). Well, they can't all be lucky enough to have roles in Wet Hot American summer (Bradley Cooper) or star opposite Louis C.K. (Emma Stone).

Other things we said out loud while watching this montage:

Keira Knightley was in Star Wars: Phantom Menace?!
Robert Duvall had some seriously badass early acting credits.
•It's been too long since we watched Michael Keaton in Mr. Mom.
•Damn, Patricia Arquette totally got bitch-slapped by Freddy Krueger.
Rosamund Pike was a Bond girl?
•What do ya know, both Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne were in The Other Boleyn Girl.
