We can't seem to get Leonardo DiCaprio his long overdue Academy Award, so now the masses are moving on to a much more attainable goal.

An online petition has popped up to get Nicolas Cage to host Saturday Night Live for the first time in over 20 years. The Oscar winning actor has appeared in 85 percent* of every movie ever made since the creation of the talking pictures, and yet we haven't seen him on SNL since 1992? For shame, America. For shame!

(*totally made up percentage)

The last time Cage hosted Saturday Night Live, the musical guest was Bobby Brown. Feels like eons ago, right?

If you feel the same way, then you will want to head over to Change.org and sign the "Mr. Nicolas Cage to host Saturday Night Live" petition because it's literally the most important thing on the Internet right now.

"Nicolas Cage is the most accomplished renaissance man the solar system has ever witnessed," reads the petition. "For him to not host Saturday Night Live for the first time in over 20 years would be a crime against humanity. Sign this petition to make noise and get the message out."

The man who stole the Declaration of Independence in order to keep it from getting stolen by Sean "I Die All the Time" Bean needs to be on that stage again. And no, the skit he did with Andy Samberg in 2012 doesn't count. That was just a taste. We want the whole Cage course, baby.

By the way, Seth Meyers called that "Weekend Update" skit with Samberg and Cage "the highlight of my time on the show." Now imagine if we could get Nic Cage for a full SNL episode?! That would be the highlight of mankind. Sorry, moon landing.

The people behind the #UncageSNL also started a Twitter account to allow their message to appropriately spread like Nicolas Cage's glorious forehead. So sign the petition, retweet their ridiculous tweets and let's get Nicolas Cage on SNL!
