The next time your pets won't get up off the couch when you call from the other room, tell them the story of Sissy so they'll feel really bad about themselves.

Sissy is an adorable miniature schnauzer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa who ran away from home just so she could find her owner Nancy Franck, who was in the hospital receiving treatment for her cancer.

Security footage from the hospital shows Sissy arriving at the hospital after walking 20 blocks from home, going through the automatic doors and then putting her nose to the ground before disappearing down the hallway.

"We looked up and there was this dog just that was just running across the lobby," Mercy Medical Center security officer Samantha Conrad told KCRG. Staff members found the number on the tag and got in touch with Nancy's husband, Dale, who was at home wondering where his dog ran off to.

"She was on a mission that night to see her mom," Dale Franck told ABC News. "but she couldn't find the right elevator to take."

Unfortunately, Sissy wasn't allowed to stay with her human, but Nancy did get to spend a few minutes with her pooch before she was taken back home.

"Nancy and Sissy were able to love each other for a few minutes, and then she went back with me," Dale said. "She's my baby, and though it sounds funny now, it wasn't funny when she was missing. I was worried sick. I'm glad she's OK."

The Francks don't remember ever bringing the dog to the hospital, so it's a miracle that Sissy was able to find it so quickly. Nancy is currently battling uterine cancer, though the doctors think most of the cancer has been eradicated and they are putting her through chemotherapy just to be sure.

"That was great just being able to see her. That was perfect. I'm glad she thought of it," Nancy told KCRG.

Meanwhile, our cats don't notice when we are gone on vacation for days at a time. As long as their food bowl is full, they won't be coming to find us.
