Netflix's original comedy from 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Robert Carlock stars Ellie Kemper as Kimmy Schmidt, a recently rescued doomsday cult member who decides to start her life again in New York City. Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane and 30 Rock MVP Jane Krakowski also star in the quirky comedy series premiering March 6.
Kimmy finds her life turned upside down when, after 15 years in captivity, she discovers the world doesn't end. After an appearance on NBC's Today, Kimmy decides to take her wad of cash, backpack and brightly-colored sweater and make it in New York. She winds up moving in with struggling actor Titus (Burgess) and finding a job as a nanny with the very rich Jacqueline Voorhees (Krakowski). It's everything you've come to expect from Fey and Carlock with the added sweetness of Kemper.
Basically, you're going to love it.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was originally ordered to series by NBC, but its move to Netflix came in November. Netflix has already ordered a second season.
"The very construct of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt—its offbeat premise, hilarious and rich characters and serialized storytelling—make it a perfect Netflix comedy series," Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, said in a statement when the move was announced. "Tina and Robert's unique comic voice and sensibility come through in this series and we could not be more excited to present Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt exclusively to Netflix members around the world."
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt also stars Lauren Adams, Sara Chase and Sol Miranda.
All episodes hit Netflix on Friday, March 6.
