Sometimes even a Supreme Court Justice can have poor judgment.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg surprised viewers, President Barack Obama and countless others when she was caught taking a nap during the ever-important State of the Union address. While some speculated that she might have been bored during the lengthy speech, it turns out it was something SO MUCH BETTER than that...

The 81-year-old was DRUNK!

Or should we say not exactly sober...?

Ginsburg confessed her burning secret to some lucky students during a talk at George Washington University, according to The Hill.

"The audience for the most part is awake, because they're bobbing up and down, and we sit there, stone-faced, sober judges. But we're not, at least I wasn't, 100 percent sober," she revealed. "Because before we went to the State of the Union, Justice [Anthony] Kennedy brought in...it was an Opus something or other, very fine California wine."

Ahhh there's nothing like a fine wine! Even the legendary judge couldn't turn down the good stuff despite promising herself to "stay away" from the alcoholic beverage.

"I vowed this year, just sparkling water, stay away from the wine, but in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine," she added.

Hey, when a good meal requires wine, we can't blame you.

This isn't the first time she has nodded off during a State of the Union address. She also cited good wine as her reason for dozing off during the 2013 speech. Her "wine sleeps" have become so common that retired Justice David Souter used to help keep her awake. But colleagues Justices Kennedy and Stephen Breyer are "sort of timid about it."

Somehow we don't blame them. Could YOU elbow Ginsburg?!

Hilariously enough she didn't walk away from this ordeal unscathed. She later revealed that one of her granddaughters called her at home to scold her.
