Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara are on the run!
The actresses team up in the upcoming Warner Bros. comedy Hot Pursuit, in which Witherspoon plays an inept, by-the-book cop who must protect Vergara, a drug dealer's widow, from criminals and police corruption.
The trailer debuted online Thursday and featured plenty of jokes about Witherspoon's petite stature. "Look at you! You're like a tiny dog," Vergara says during the first meeting. "I could put you in my purse." After they go on the lam, news outlets claim Witherspoon is 4-foot-11 and 4-foot-9. "I am 5-foot-2," she says. Meanwhile, Vergara's age is revealed to be 45—before another news station claims she's really 50.
Of course, the road to freedom—and to safety—has its fair share of speed bumps.
After averting one particularly dangerous situation, Witherspoon tells Vergara, a star witness in a drug trafficking case, "You don't have to like me but I'm your best chance at surviving!" But after things continue to go south, she wants revenge. "We have been set up, shot at and hunted down," Witherspoon reminds her.
The clip has it all: a cocaine explosion, "some lesbian stuff," male nudity, car chases, a menstruation gag and Witherspoon speaking in perfect Spanish. And the trailer is only two minutes and 31 seconds long!
Hot Pursuit also stars John Carroll Lynch, Jim Gaffigan, Rob Kazinsky and Richard T. Jones.
Anne Fletcher, whose prior credits include 27 Dresses and The Proposal, directed the flick.
Hot Pursuit will be released in theaters on May 8.
