In honor of Deadpool being set to get released in exactly one year from today, Ryan Reynolds has teased fans with a glimpse at a prototype of the mask he will wear in the forthcoming "antihero" film.

In the photo that he posted on Twitter, fans also get a glimpse of the hunk himself in addition to the costume's gloves.

"Sepia tone disguises the fact the mask is ballerina pink. It's early. 365 sleeps early. #deadpool #prototypes," he tweeted.

Reynolds had been vying for his Wade Wilson character to get his own feature film after appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but once he transformed into a fast-healing mercenary Scott Adkins took over. Before Reynolds officially got cast as the new Deadpool and well before the project got the green light, test footage of the Green Lantern actor playing the antihero leaked online, which sparked interest in the project.

The talkative and humorous anti-hero first appeared in Marvel Comics' New Mutants #98 (Feb. 1991). But for those unfamiliar with him, Deadpool is a comic book character who knows he is a comic book character.

Take a second to digest that. It's pretty meta.

His realization leads him to breaking the fourth wall inside the comics, where there are separate comic bubbles that differentiate when he is talking to himself, out loud and to the audience.

Blake Lively's husband is hoping the movie receives an R rating, telling Yahoo! U.K., "It needs those elements. It's very meta. I mean the character knows he's in a movie. He knows he's in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it's kind of a risky property. But, you know, we'll see."

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
