A nearly two-week hospital stay is no joke, but Val Kilmer had every reason to smile once he was released.

"This was taken after I left the hospital yesterday afternoon. Freedom!!!! Thanks again for all of your love and support. I'm so grateful," Kilmer snapped a smiley selfie and posted it on Facebook Saturday, the actor sporting facial scruff and a zipped-up hoodie.

"Sorry for the dramatic pause: Facebook froze my account for a bit, just as I was emerging from the hospital," he also wrote. "Thank you all for your prayers, love and support. I'm so happy to say, the emergency that lead me to dial 911 is well over and I'm out of the hospital and in a safe healing environment. The doctors and nurses I met were wonderful and very respectful of my spiritual priorities and I can't thank you all enough for your professionalism and genuine care."

While Kilmer, 55, has not disclosed why exactly he spent almost two weeks at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., he was pretty quick to shoot down a report that he had undergone emergency surgery because of a tumor in his throat.

He was taken by ambulance from his Malibu home to UCLA on the night of Jan. 26, after which his rep stated that he was undergoing tests for a possible tumor.

Not so, the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang star wrote on Jan. 31.

"Thank you for all your sweet support. But I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation. I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the ucla ICU. Friends have assisted who know my spiritual convictions and have been most sensitive and kind for the extra effort in making sure there's minimum gossip and silly talk. I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say. God bless you all and please don't worry. Love and deep affection , Val."
