Because you should definitely be celebrating the day of love by seeing Fifty Shades of Grey with your girlfriends. That movie was made to be watched by a group of friends who are in desperate need of sexy Jamie Dornan all up in their lives.
So maybe you already have this night planned or maybe you just now decided that you should round up your friends and make an event out of this. Either way, let us help you plan the best Fifty Shades night out ever.
1. Set your dress code
This is very important. Do you want to get all dressed up in nice outfits to celebrate the premiere or do you think it should be a sweatpants kind of outing? Either way, make sure you decide early so no one plans a fancy outfit ahead of time only to be let down when everyone else shows up in leggings.
2. Read (or reread) the book
You know, just so you're ready for the discussion after the film. What scenes did they leave out? Did your favorite book scene get the justice it deserved on the big screen? It's important to do your research beforehand.
3. Plan the meal
It can be a fancy restaurant or you can just hit up Taco Bell. All that matters is that you guys get together and eat before the movie, because no one wants to be hangry (hungry-angry) when there is S&M scenes to focus on.
4. Treat yo' self!
Make like Parks and Rec's Donna and Tom and TREAT YO' SELF. Maybe everyone should go get a manicure and pedicure before the show. Or splurge on a blow-out. Or take yourselves out for a happy hour cocktail before you hit the theater, because we all know you won't be the only group of slightly buzzed girls at that show.
5. Snack wisely
You don't want to get up and pee in the middle of the movie, but you definitely need to quench your thirst because those scenes will certainly leave you with dry mouth. So we suggest a soda that is no bigger than a medium-sized. Don't go for the bucket-sized unless it comes with a limited edition naked Jamie Dornan cup. And don't you dare buy something that makes a crinkly noise as you open it. But if you have to get your candy fix, please do not wait until a Red Room scene to open the Sour Patch Kids.
6. Get there early
You have to watch everyone coming into the theater and guess what their situation is! Awkward first date? Married couple trying to get some ideas? A boyfriend who is being helplessly dragged to this film by his girlfriend? Better yet, find another group of girlfriends and get together to have the biggest viewing party ever.
7. Make a drinking game out of it
BYOB (if you're allowed) and set the rules. We'll get you started: Drink every time Anastasia gasps. Waterfall for the duration of every sex scene. And give out five drinks every time Christian takes his clothes off. Win-win.
8. Plan a post-Fifty Shades activity
Just some ideas: you guys could have an old-school sleepover that night to discuss the movie. Sleeping bags optional. Or make a date for the next day to visit the nearest sex shop together if your interest has been piqued. Whatever it is, just make sure you extend the Fifty Shades celebration to the next day.
