Boom! Did John Mayer just throw shade at ex Taylor Swift? L'il bit?

The 37-year-old crooner mentioned the 25-year-old pop star while guest hosting CBS' The Late Late Show on Friday, two days before the 2015 Grammys. He is set to perform at the annual event, which Swift is set to attend, as a presenter and nominee.

"You can see me at the Grammys, doing what I do best—being avoided by Taylor Swift," he said during his monologue, pausing for a few seconds and drawing laughs and applause.

He then clenched his fist, adding, "Boom!"

Swift has not commented.

Mayer, who has practiced his standup skills several times at comedy clubs in Los Angeles, is the latest out of several celebrity guest hosts of The Late Late Show, which Craig Ferguson hosted for almost 10 years before leaving last DecemberInto the Woods actor James Corden will assume his role as the permanent host of The Late Late Show on March 23.

Mayer and Swift reportedly dated for several months, starting in 2009, when she was 19. In 2012, Mayer told Rolling Stone he felt "really humiliated" by her song "Dear John," which he believes is about him and contains lyrics such as "Don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games?" She has never confirmed the song's subject manner officially.

"How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about," the singer, known for years for singing about ex-boyfriends and heartbreak, told Glamour magazine in response to Mayer's comments.

In 2013, Mayer released the song "Paper Doll," which many have speculated is about Swift. This has also not been confirmed.

Swift is nominated for three Grammys at this year's ceremony, which takes place on Sunday and airs on CBS at 8/7c. Mayer's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Katy Perry, received two nominations. She will also perform at the Grammys. (Check out a full list of 2015 Grammy nominations).

A source had told E! News recently that Mayer and Perry "are dating each other again, but taking things very slow." The two have not commented about the status of their relationship.

Perry and Mayer were spotted together this past Sunday following the 2015 Super Bowl, where she had performed with Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott at the half time show. A source told E! News that the couple left the stadium together in a golf cart, holding hands, right after the performance.

The two and Missy Elliott also attended an after party together, as seen in a photo the hip-hop star posted on her Twitter page.
