The Grammys are so close we can taste it!

Of course seeing which nominees take home the glory is fun, but the real reason we tune in is to see all of the celebrity glam. The Grammys, after all, is the awards show where the rules go out the window and stars show up in some serious beauty and fashion eye candy.

What can we expect then? The tried-and-true smokey eye, of course, but with a red carpet twist. The latest on-trend iterations have been blended with gorgeous metallics and marsala, the Pantone color of the year, for a smoldering effect.

In honor of music's biggest night of the year, we've asked our pals at COVERGIRL and Katy Perry's makeup artist and E! Style Collective member Jake Bailey to show us a show-stopping rendition of the bronze smokey eye look.

First, Jake started with eyeliner and used his finger to help smudge it out. Using a COVERGIRL Eyeshadow Quad, he applied pigment across the eyelid, starting from the outside with dark shadow and working his way in toward the nose with lighter hues.

He then used COVERGIRL Full Lash Bloom Mascara to build volume for full and soft lashes with a trick so clever you wished you thought of it yourself: The makeup maestro placed a piece of cardboard between the eyelashes and the eyelid to protect his eyelid canvas from mascara exposure.

Jake then stippled, or lightly tapped, on a warm apricot blush for a natural glow before popping on some COVERGIRL Lip Lava over a nude lipstick for shine.
