Despite recent reports to the contrary, Ellen Barkin is not engaged to Amal Clooney's co-worker, British barrister Ben Emmerson.

There's been speculation swirling that the two, who reportedly met at George Clooney's star-studded wedding last September, are set to get hitched themselves.

However, a statement released to E! News says, "Mr. Emmerson is not engaged to Ellen Barkin."

And while it's unclear whether the two are romantic, or even friends in any capacity, we do know that Barkin has been a longtime friend of Clooney's and was present at the Venice nuptials.

The Sea of Love actress has been famously unlucky in love in the past, what with her two marriages ending both abruptly and publicly.

Barkin was first married to actor Gabriel Byrne in 1988, but the two split 11 years later.

They have two children together, Jack Daniel Byrne and Romy Marion Byne.

Barkin then married business mogul Ronald O. Perelman from 2000 to 2006 and the couple's split made headline news for years to follow.

During a 2011 interview with The New York Times, Barkin carefully touched upon the acrimonious split—which saw her receiving $4.3 million dollars in a settlement under the condition that she not speak about any specifics of their breakup.

"As a woman, these are things you'd like to talk through," she shared. "But this is an area of my life I'm not allowed to do that with. All I can say is I was extremely naïve for someone who considers herself to be a very smart, savvy, cynical New York broad."
