The social media team behind ABC's upcoming show, Fresh off the Boat, offended many when they tweeted out a promo Thursday that depicted various cultures through their hats.

The graphic included a turban, a cowboy hat, a bamboo hat, a sombrero and a kufi and captioned it, "We're all a little #FreshOffTheBoat." Twitter exploded, but one user in particular was extremely upset...the show's executive producer and writer of the memoir on which the show is based. Eddie Huang took to the same platform to express his disgust.

Of course the writer of Fresh off the Boat: A Memoir was just one of many who were disgusted with the ad, which many claim promotes the show using racist and stereotypical jokes.

One user tweeted at Huang directly, writing, "@MrEddieHuang #FreshOffTheBoat with incredibly racist ads. Shame than it how it's being marketed."

Another tweeter managed to screen grab the now-deleted tweet as well, posting, "ICYMI this is the now deleted promo from Fresh off the Boat that was probably made by some white dude."

The show follows Huang's best-selling memoir and will look at the lives of immigrants in America. Eleven-year-old Eddie moves to suburban Orlando from the Chinatown section of Washington, D.C., and viewers will watch the young boy and his family acclimate to their new, unfamiliar surroundings.

Huang has voiced his distaste for the show in the past, publishing an article in New York Magazine about how he didn't approve of the direction the network was taking the show...or who it was hiring for the job.

"Why isn't there a Taiwanese or Chinese person who can write this," he told the magazine. "I'm sure there's some angry Korean dude in Hollywood who grew up eating Spam, watching his dad punch his mom in the face, who knows how to use Final Draft!"
