After a now-infamous Vanity Fair profile of Courtney Love rocked the world, the rock singer has come clean with the truth regarding her battle with drugs: She used heroin while pregnant.

Years of conflicting statements have let the music world and fans wonder whether or not she had actually used drugs while carrying Frances Bean Cobain, but she admits in the new documentary, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival, that she did take the risk.

"I used it once then stopped," she says in the documentary. "I knew she would be fine."

Much of the documentary examines the Nirvana rocker's struggle with parenting and his desire to be the father he never had. Although there are no images of him doing drugs in the film, his descent into addiction becomes increasingly clear.

Although Love and her daughter have had a tumultuous relationship, the screening of the documentary brought the two back together where they posed together for photos at the Park City, Utah, festival.

"So sad yet so uplifting, beautiful and gorgeous. Your daddy would be so proud of you baby," Love tweeted, referring to their daughter. "Thank you."

Love had opened up to The Fix in 2011 about her drug use during pregnancy, saying that she had only used in the "first three weeks" when she didn't realize she was expecting, which contrasted her earlier denials.

"Yes, it's true, I used heroin in the first three weeks of my pregnancy—but so f--king what!? I didn't even know I was pregnant at the time," she confessed. "I also took a few puffs on a cigarette when my belly was out to here, but most of those nine months, I walked around with nicotine patches all over my body. When you have a baby inside you, you're not going to do drugs or something stupid."

The shocking Lynn Hirschberg-penned Vanity Fair article didn't just surprise the world, it also rocked Love and Cobain to their cores. They issued a joint statement negating the part of the story that implied she did drugs while pregnant.

"We unequivocally deny this...As soon as Courtney found out she was pregnant, she immediately contacted an obstetrician and a doctor specializing in chemical dependency and has been under their care since then and has been assured that she can expect to have a healthy baby."

Cobain committed suicide on April 5, 1994.
