Kim Kardashian's style may be constantly evolving, but one thing that stays fairly constant for the star is her dark, silky locks (minus that brief blond period, of course).

In his monthly column for the February 2015 issue of Allure, celebrity hairstylist (and Jennifer Aniston's BFF) Chris McMillan dishes on his four-year relationship with the reality star, which began on the set of a photo-shoot being filmed by—what else!—Keeping Up with the Kardashians cameras.

‘Kim's natural texture is so thick and wavy. Instead of fighting it, I like to go with it, keeping everything soft, easy, and understated," McMillan said. This ideal may explain the star's breathtaking wedding look, a seriously glamourous half-up, half-down ‘do that was seen around the world in May 2014.

"A wedding is not the time to do anything trendy," McMillan explained. "I teased her crown, parted her hair down the middle, and pulled two small sections straight back. This style has sort of become her go-to look since the wedding."

The hairstylist runs down key looks that he's created for the star, including a sleek blowout with sideswept bangs, hair raised at the roots and slicked to the back, as well as her signature sexy, tousled waves. One look, a smooth single-braid that Kim wore during her wedding week in Paris, took only six minutes for McMillan to create (Kim had allotted him 10).

Time restrictions aside (a working mommy's gotta be on the move!), McMillan remains inspired by the star's natural locks. That's right, folks: the hairstylist has never used extensions in Kim's hair, and for good reason.

"Kim's long, gorgeous hair is part of her identity," he wrote. With that in mind, Chris goes with the flow—literally—when working Kim's locks. (Yes, our hair-envy meter is in overdrive right now.)

Allure's February issue (featuring Fergie on the cover) is on newsstands now.
