August 7 can't come fast enough!

20th Century Fox released the first trailer for Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's longest-running superhero team, Tuesday. The sneak peek shows Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), Kate Mara (Susan Storm/Invisible Woman) and Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic) transforming from ordinary humans to superheroes after they teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe.

Together, they must save Earth from an ex-friend, Victor Domashev/Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell).

The Fantastic Four reboot comes from director Josh Trank; producers Gregory Goodman, Simon Kinberg and Matthew Vaughn; and screenwriters Kinberg and Jeremy Slater. Though the movie has yet to hit theaters, a sequel is already planned for release on June 2, 2017.

Fox's first installment of the Fantastic Four franchise consisted of two movies, released in 2005 and 2007. Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd played the heroes.

What do co-stars Bell, Jordan, Mara and Teller bring to the modern reimagining of the Marvel Comics classic? "I don't think we could possibly find four better actors to portray these characters in this version of the story," Trank tells Yahoo! Movies. "We wanted [the movie] to be grounded and dramatic and we went for the four most dramatic actors."

Luckily, the film will honor the source material. "All of the dynamics, both good and bad, about being in a family were playing out in a comic book," Kinberg says. Trank adds, "The most important thing about the Fantastic Four is that this is a movie about a family."
