Watch: Hayley Atwell's Empowering Female Role in "Agent Carter"

Hear that? It's the sound of our mad crush on Agent Carter growing even stronger.

We're obviously talking about both the new ABC superhero drama as well as the title character Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) herself. Whether she's kicking butt literally in the field or figuratively in the office, she's our new favorite role model...and the cast is all about the affect she's having on female viewers.

When we sat down with Atwell, James D'Arcy (Jarvis), Chad Michael Murray (Agent Jack Thompson) and Enver Gjokaj (Agent Daniel Sousa) to talk all things Agent Carter, they all gushed over the show's "positive image" for young girls everywhere. Check out what Atwell and D'Arcy had to say in the video above!

"We've been hearing lots of positive things," Atwell says. "I'm quite active on Twitter so I've been getting lots of feedback from fans already, people saying it's great to have a woman, a female role model as the central character in a show like this. That's something I feel very proud of."

D'Arcy agreed, adding, "It's the central point of the whole show is that there's this fantastically strong woman and of course there are going to be girls, quite rightly and how it should be, that they're all getting very excited about that. I'm with that! I'm on board with that completely."

The stars also dug into Peggy's love life, and whether there may be romance ahead with one of her fellow agents.

Even though Peggy is still grieving Captain America (Chris Evans), she does "have needs," as Atwell oh-so-eloquently put it. Could she find happiness again in the arms of a fellow SSR agent, perhaps the empathetic and noble Agent Sousa?

"Sousa feels like Peggy and Sousa would make a great couple," Murray jokes.

Gjokaj agreed, adding that "he's ready to pull the trigger." But then he elaborated seriously on whether or not Agent Carter would pair the two agents together so soon after establishing that Peggy is so independent. Check out what he had to say above now!

Agent Carter airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
