Boyhood's Ellar Coltrane and Ethan Hawke have a bromance unlike any other.

While their relationship may have been father and son on the big screen, it looks like these actors have formed a bond over the past 12 years that rivals that of any best friend.

The two couldn't stop gushing about one another on the red carpet at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards tonight, and E! was right there to witness it all.

When asked how it was to work alongside Hawke in the much-talked about film, Coltrane told us, "He's awesome. He's like the best friend I've ever had."

He added, "He's just solid, he's there. He's a great person to work with, he's an artist through and through."

Coltrane also admitted that filming once a year for over a decade felt a bit like a "family reunion" at times—and a great one at that, we imagine.

Hawke reciprocated the kind words by telling Maria Menounos that the film was "lucky" to have Coltrane as the lead role.

"I mean, who knew the kid would turn into James Dean? He's such a stud this guy. I love him."
