Hair played a big part at the 2015 SAG Awards—literally.

It is the year of the low-key, effortless look. Many stars kept it mild, with soft, relaxed curls and simple updos that made us swoon. But even though the ladies kept it simple, their looks were differentiated and defined by their hair's various split parts.

Amy Poehler, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Paulson and Julie Bowen gave us simple, chic side-parted hair to complement but not overshadow their gorgeous ensembles.

This year, the center part has also become the mane event for many an A-lister and was more than present on the SAG Awards red carpet. Keira Knightley's half-up/half-down center part went great with her gentle smoky eye look. Emmy Rossum, Anna Chlumsky and Julianne Moore all had center parts that gave their casual hairstyles some drama.

E! Style Collective's own beauty and style guru and Fabulatina creator Nashelly Messina couldn't help but agree.

"Flawless hair from the iconic red to that effortless tonsorial style, she can do no wrong," Messina said.

As much as we are loving the relaxed looks, it does leave us a little more than teased for something a bit more formal. Thankfully, Gwendoline Christie, Gretchen Mol, Ariel Winter and Sophia Bush's hair swagger did not disappoint. With more structured, retro waves, these ladies gave us that old Hollywood glamour we've come to see on the red carpet. In a sea of laid-back, cool hairstyles, the effort was noticed—and appreciated!
