After months—seriously, this show was announced in October 2013—of waiting, you can get your first look at the anticipated series below. Rejoice because that is Jane Krakowski, Carol Kane and Titus Burgess all in one show starring alongside Kemper.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was originally set for NBC, but something magical happened and Netflix swooped in. Now it will hit the streaming giant on March 6, and it's already been renewed for a second season.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to debut Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt exclusively on Netflix, which has proven to be such an outstanding place for distinctive, original programming," Fey and Carlock said in a joint statement when the move was announced. "Happily, we will still collaborate with our longtime partners at Universal Television to fulfill Netflix's two-season order. We grew up at NBC and will continue to develop broadcast projects with them as well. We found the inspiration for this series in Ellie Kemper's shining all-American face, and we know that she and Kimmy Schmidt have found their best possible home at Netflix."
The show follows Kimmy (Kemper) who has just escaped a cult after 15 years. She decides to start her life over in New York City armed with just a backpack, sneakers and some library books. She finds a new roommate Titus (Burgess, who also appeared in Fey's 30 Rock) and gets a job working for Krakowski's character. It's a whole new world for Kimmy.
Kimmy Schmidt is the TV hero we've been waiting for.
